Remora Robotics, a pioneer in autonomous solutions for aquaculture, has successfully closed a €13.7M (NOK 164M) funding round. This significant capital injection will accelerate the global rollout of its innovative autonomous cleaning robot, a technological leap forward poised to revolutionize fish welfare and sustainability within the fish farming industry.

The Remora solution uniquely combines automated net cleaning with advanced AI-powered inspection capabilities. This dual functionality represents a crucial advancement, creating optimal conditions for fish health by maintaining cleaner nets, which in turn promotes superior gill health and significantly reduces stress levels. Furthermore, the autonomous approach inherently lowers the biological risks traditionally associated with high-pressure cleaning methods and extensive vessel activity around fish pens. The direct benefits are manifold: improved fish welfare, enhanced biosecurity, reduced mortality rates, and a more sustainable production footprint.

The funding round was spearheaded by Hatch Blue through its Blue Revolution Fund, with robust participation from existing shareholders.

Remora Robotics integrates technology, fish welfare, and operational efficiency in a way that directly addresses the needs of salmon farmers while enhancing aquaculture’s sustainability. We are very excited to work with the Remora team and support their growth in the Norwegian salmon market and beyond, says Georg Baunach, CEO and Managing Partner at Hatch Blue.

Over the past year, Remora Robotics has achieved a notable commercial breakthrough, successfully deploying its systems with several of the world’s leading aquaculture enterprises. Demand for their technology is rapidly escalating, with a significant portion of the company’s production capacity for the next six months already pre-sold. The immediate focus is on delivering exceptional service and fostering long-term customer value through the robust Remora platform.

Looking ahead, Remora Robotics is set to unveil the next phase of its technology roadmap at Aqua Nor in August. This will include a groundbreaking new software platform designed for continuous pen monitoring, featuring state-of-the-art AI-driven net integrity inspection.

Svein Erik Gregersen, CEO of Remora Robotics, expressed his pride: “We are immensely proud of our team’s achievements to date, and the strong market response to our technology is incredibly motivating. This funding empowers us to further evolve our platform and deliver even greater value to our customers. These are truly exciting times for Remora – and we’re just getting started.”
