Last week, the European deep tech scene was set ablaze. Not by the record-breaking biotech round or the significant spacetech wins, but by an apparent document leak suggesting the 28th regime, championed by Ursula von der Leyen, would be a directive and not a regulation. 

This threatens to undermine what founders have been so excited about – a pan-European startup framework that cuts out massive bureaucratic overhead and facilitates cross-border scaling.
