Meet the top 10 Czech deep tech startups, according to the Czechs

Viesturs Abelis

Czechia has a long and illustrious history of innovation, especially in what we would today call deep tech. The region that has given the world soft contact lenses, disinfectants for hospitals, and the ship propeller, today continues its legacy building equally pivotal solutions for the next-generation – new drug delivery systems, digital resilience solutions, and novel robotics platforms.

We reached out to CzechInvest to learn about the top 10 Czech deep tech startups. Thank you to Katerina Glazar Kynclova, Chief Editor and Web Content Manager, and Petr Vrana, Data Analyst, for curating the list.

As they rightly pointed out, identifying a top 10 in deep tech is tricky, since you can rank startup success by various criteria from patent portfolios and scientific breakthroughs to market traction and funding.

Keeping things data-driven, they opted for the latter, using “VC total funding as a clear and comparable benchmark”, with the additional caveats that:

“Our analysis focuses on startups founded since 2015, capturing the current wave of Czech innovation rather than long-established players. It’s also worth noting that while some standout companies such as Rossum, ThreatMark, and LIV.AI have moved their headquarters abroad, they were born in Czechia – showcasing the country’s capacity to nurture globally ambitious founders.”

Do note that the list is organized alphabetically. Without further ado, let’s dive in.
