Lithuania is cementing its commitment to becoming a major European hub for technological innovation. Once known almost exclusively for its success in the financial technology sector, especially in the mid-to-late 2010s, the country has been broadening its startup scope, and that includes tapping into the waters of deep tech.

Similar to trends across Europe, Lithuania has seen significant investment in various AI solutions, including those classified as deep tech. In 2024 alone, AI startups in Lithuania attracted €38.8 million in investments

What’s interesting is that in April 2025, the Lithuanian government approved a key legislative initiative from the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation (EIMIN) to extend the age limit for deep tech startups seeking public support from five years to ten years. According to Vice Minister of the Economy and Innovation Marius Stasiukaitis, accelerating support for these high-tech and life science sectors is necessary to hit Lithuania’s target of dedicating 5% of GDP to life sciences.

While it may take some time for the country to see whether its legislative initiative delivers the desired results, we contacted Innovation Agency Lithuania to find out which Lithuanian deep tech startups Lithuanians themselves consider the most promising today. Karolina Urbonaite, Head of Startup Lithuania, elaborated on the selection criteria:

Startups were selected using a combination of hard data and ecosystem insight: recent VC investments, growth indicators such as team and product expansion, and Dealroom’s signal, which assesses momentum, relevance, and founder strength.

With our thanks to Karolina and Agnė Rudytė, Global Communications Manager at Innovation Agency Lithuania, here’s the list:
