Interhuman AI raises €2M to build the social intelligence layer for AI

Interhuman AI, a Danish startup pioneering socially aware artificial intelligence, announced it has raised €2 million in a pre-seed funding round to accelerate the development of AI that understands human social cues.

While AI has made remarkable strides – from writing code and solving complex problems, to generating insights that once required teams of experts – current systems still miss a critical element of communication: the unspoken signals between words. Hesitations, tone, facial expressions, and body language carry the majority of meaning in human interaction, yet AI today remains blind to them.

“93% of human communication is non-verbal. Right now, AI is blind to it,” writes Paula Petcu, CEO of Interhuman AI. “That gap matters. It’s the reason AI conversations often feel flat, mechanical, or even frustrating. It’s why AI coaches struggle to give truly personal feedback, why digital health tools feel cold, and why customer service bots often miss the point.”

Interhuman AI is developing the first social intelligence layer for AI – a system that enables technology to perceive, interpret, and respond to the subtle social signals humans rely on every day.

The €2M pre-seed round was led by PSV Tech, with participation from EIFO, Antler, The Yope Foundation, and angels from Ada Ventures. The investment will expand Interhuman AI’s team and accelerate the development of its advanced models and API, allowing companies building human-facing AI to integrate social intelligence with just a few lines of code.

The startup is initially focusing on applications with the highest stakes: training and coaching, healthcare, and customer interaction. However, the potential extends to any domain where AI interacts with people.

“We’re only just beginning to see what happens when social intelligence is built into AI. This breakthrough has the potential to transform healthcare, education, and any sector where human-AI interaction matters. Interhuman AI is leading this shift with rare technical depth, scientific rigor, and the ambition to unlock this frontier,” says Alexander Viterbo-Horten, Partner at PSV Tech.

Mathias Kaasgaard, Investment Manager at EIFO, adds: “Interhuman AI is not just another fast AI-language model business. It is the next and meaningful step in the evolving AI industry. This is technology that will make a difference, and we believe the founder team is extraordinarily well equipped to make it happen.”

“Interhuman AI is bringing humanity to AI. Empowering new technologies to understand the wealth of non-verbal communication that we take for granted will be transformational. We have every confidence in their future success,” concludes Michael Wiatr, Partner at Antler.
